The following list includes databases, which are either bibliographic, full text or a combination. Those marked with an * are subscribed to by the Fiji School of Medicine (FSM) Library and can only be accessed by FSM staff and students. To access the subscribed journal databases you may need a Fiji School of Medicine Login and Password . Please contact the Library, if you require assistance.

A central resource for current information on federally (USA) and privately funded clinical trials for AIDS patients and others infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). AIDS clinical trials evaluate experimental drugs and other therapies for adults and children at all stages of HIV infection -- from patients who are HIV positive with no symptoms to those with various symptoms of AIDS.


Australian Digital Theses Program 
The ADT database provides access to the full text of PhD and Masters by Research theses held in Australian Universities.


BioMed Central 

The research articles in all journals published by BioMed Central are 'Open Access'. They are immediately and permanently available online without charge. A number of journals in the list require an institutional or a personal subscription to view other content.


BMJ Journals Online 

A gateway to large and growing collection of resources published by the British Medical Association (BMJ), including full text electronic journals, Clinical Evidence and the British National Formulary.


CAM on PubMed 

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) have partnered to create CAM on PubMed, a complementary and alternative medicine literature subset of NLM's PubMed.


DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) 

DOAJ covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals in all subjects and languages. There is now 1270 journal title in the directory. Currently 320 journals are searchable on article level.

ERIC: The Educator's Reference Desk 

ERIC is the world's largest source of education information. The Educator's Reference Desk includes ERIC journal citations from 1966 through January 2004.


Free Medical 

The Free Medical website is dedicated to the promotion of free access to medical journals over the Internet. The access date for each title varies from 6 months to 2 years after publication, so check the title information before searching for recent articles.


HighWire Press Free Journals 

The following journals offer free online access to developing economies, based on either programs such as HINARI, or on a HighWire-based program offering access to countries appearing in the World Bank's list of "low income economies," .



The WHO Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI) provides online access to more than 1,000 full text electronic journals and other electronic resources in the biomedical and related social sciences.



The International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) database provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published, international, and scientific literature on dietary supplements.



MedIND is a database of full text peer-reviewed medical literature from Indian biomedical journals available from the Indian Medlars Centre.


ProQuest Health and Medical Complete * 

ProQuest is an aggregated electronic publications service, which provides online access to the full text of journals, magazines and newspapers. ProQuest Health and Medical Complete is one of the many databases comprising the ProQuest service.

PubMed * 

PubMed is the National Library of Medicine (NLM) premiere search system for health information. PubMed provides access to millions of references to articles in the biomedical journals. PubMed includes citations, abstracts and links to a growing number of full text articles. 


PubMed Central 

PubMed Central (PMC) is the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) free full text digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. PubMed Central is available through the PubMed search engine.



A database of drugs and pharmaceuticals, which includes: information on clinical pharmacology; indications and dosage; side effects and drug interactions; warnings; contraindications and patient information.



TOXNET is the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) toxicology and environmental health database, including information on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas.
