I. Health Service Planner Specialized Clinical Services Program
This position is available on a full time basis and will be awarded as a 2 year contract. As the Health Services
Planner for the Strengthening Specialized Clinical Services Program (SSCPS) at the Fiji School of Medicine, the
incumbent will be part of a Development & Coordination Team for this regional project.
 
Terms of Reference:
The Health Services Planner reports directly to the Projects Team Leader Fiji School of Medicine.
The responsibilities for this position include:
 
  • • Identify and assist in the establishment of national Specialized Clinical Services Committees in Pacific
  • Island Countries and means of interfacing with other mechanisms for strengthening delivery of tertiary
  • health services in collaboration with national health systems.
  • Support or assist the Specialized Clinical Services Committee in each participating country to meet
  • national tertiary health needs
  • Assist in documenting a regionally accepted standard operating procedures for specialist clinical
  • services
  • Draft regional annual activity plans, in consultation with participating countries, and in consultation with
  • service providers, that provides appropriate service provision based upon capacity building and
  • service need.
  • Work with clinicians of the Specialized Clinical Services Committee, and senior personnel with the
  • Ministry of Health on identification of the resources for clinical services, and develop appropriate
  • planning tool that will inform decisions of prioritization and assist in evaluation of clinical outcomes.
  • Identify and liaise with potential specialist clinical service providers that could be able to meet
  • identified clinical needs in the Pacific
  • Work towards improved coordination of specialized clinical service provision, with the assistance of
  • the Program Manager
  • o Regional annual activity planning for visiting specialist services
  • o Identification of and, where necessary, liaison with all visiting services (including those
  • faith-based organizations, non-government organizations, military and donors).
  • Identify and liaise with relevant stakeholders to meet SSCSP Program objectives
  • Implement any other tasks as approved by the Dean, Fiji School of Medicine
  • Skills Required
  • Recognized postgraduate qualifications in Health or a related field preferably a Masters
  • qualification
  • At least 3 years experience with Health Projects in Pacific Island Country setting.
  • Preferably have had practical experience in coordinating specialist team visits in the Pacific.

II. Projects Manager – Project Resource Centre
This position is available on a full time basis and will be awarded as a 2 year contract. The Project Manager for
the Project Resource Centre [PRC] works under the Dean’s Office at the Fiji School of Medicine. The PRC
provides administration and managerial support for all Fiji School of Medicine externally funded projects. The PRC
also facilitates and provides resources to enhance the project management practices at the Fiji School of
Medicine.
 
Terms of Reference:
Under the direct supervision of Project Team Leader and the Dean, the Project Manager will be responsible for:
• the overall administrative and financial aspect of project management
• providing administrative and managerial support to Strengthening Clinical Services Program (SSCSP)
• The monitoring and evaluation for all externally funded projects.
• Liaise with and provide progress reports to all stakeholders and development partners.
• Facilitating and providing resources to enhance the project management practice at Fiji School of
Medicine.
 
Skills Required
• Recognized postgraduate qualifications in Health or related field preferably project management.
• Practical experience in the management, administration and evaluation of project in health.
• Involved in coordination and specialist visits in the Pacific
• Experience with projects funded by regional development partners.

III. Project Officer-Administration Project Resource Center
This position is available on a full time basis and will be awarded as a 2 year contract. The Project Officer
Administration in the Projects Resource Center [PRC] works under the Dean’s Office at the Fiji School of
Medicine. The (PRC) provides administration and managerial support for all Fiji School of Medicine externally
funded projects. The PRC also facilitates and provides resources to enhance the project management practices at
the Fiji School of Medicine.
 
Terms of Reference:
The Project Officer Administration is responsible for:
• the provision of logistical and administrative support for all externally funded projects.
• the coordination and provision of administrative assistance for meetings, workshops and conferences.
• the update, maintenance and archiving of important project documents (soft & hard copies)
• providing progress reports for various externally funded projects
• perform other duties consistent with the position as approved by the Dean
 
Skills Required
• Recognized undergraduate qualifications in management or related field
• At least 3 years practical experience in the administration of health projects.
• Experience with projects funded by regional development partners.
